Ananda Residence marks the beginning of the Genesis Collection, the first realization of L’TOPIA’s architectural vision and its promise to redefine contemporary living in Tulum. Conceived as a mission statement, Ananda became the canvas through which a newly assembled team expressed its collective philosophy — a synthesis of design integrity, innovation, and experiential depth.

It was here that L’TOPIA’s collaboration with Uli first took shape. His concept was bold yet meditative: a cantilevered form suspended in equilibrium, evoking a sense of surrealist anti-gravity. This architectural gesture became the villa’s signature — a visual metaphor for weightlessness and balance — and simultaneously a technical challenge that allowed the construction team to demonstrate their mastery of structure, precision, and form.

As the design evolved, Eros Design Studio, led by Patricio Abaca took on the task of refining the villa’s spatial rhythm. Together, they sculpted the façades, rooftop, and interiors into a seamless continuum of geometry and light — ensuring that every space, from the expansive social core to the secluded terraces, harmonized with its natural surroundings.

Ananda was designed for those who seek stillness without isolation — for individuals who value space, light, and authenticity. Its aesthetic draws from contemporary and mid-century modern sensibilities, emphasizing proportion, restraint, and craftsmanship. Every surface in Ananda was designed to evoke peace, calm, and groundedness. The tactile experience of the villa — the way light falls across travertine, the soft grain of local hardwoods beneath the hand — was choreographed to foster serenity. By blurring the boundaries between indoors and out, the home sustains a constant dialogue with its jungle surroundings. Even within its most refined interiors, the atmosphere remains connected to nature; the materials breathe with the same rhythm as the trees that surround them.

The material palette evolved through a series of explorations and collaborations with the local Ejidal community. The team experimented with contrasts — light and dark woods — until they achieved a harmony that reflected both visual depth and practical durability. Woods such as Zapote and Teak, selected for their endurance and tonal richness, were recommended by local craftsmen who understood how these species would age and mature in the tropical climate. The use of travertine and natural stone added luminosity and texture, grounding the modern geometry of the villa in an organic sensibility that pays homage to the artisanal heritage of the Mayan region.
